Investment opportunities: The French Republic is committed to contributing to the socio-economic development of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, as part of the multifaceted cooperation between France and the Kingdom, said the French ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier, on Tuesday in Dakhla.
“We are working to realize France’s desire” to contribute, alongside Morocco, to the consolidation of the development of the southern provinces on the economic and social levels, said Mr. Lecourtier in a statement to the press on the occasion. of his visit to the region at the head of a large delegation. This visit aims to translate concretely into reality the cooperation between Morocco and France in the economic, cultural, social and educational fields, he said, adding that this trip illustrates the support expressed by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, in the letter addressed to HM King Mohammed VI, affirming that the present and future of the Sahara fall within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty. The French diplomat specified that this visit also aims to learn about the projects carried out or to be implemented at the regional level, within the framework of the Regional Development Program (PDR), and to examine the role what French partners can play in this approach.
“Several French companies are already active in the region,” he observed, expressing his country’s desire to carry out new projects with stakeholders in the region in the coming months. The president of the council of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, El Khattat Yanja, for his part indicated that the visit of the French ambassador and the delegation accompanying him testifies to the firm desire of France to translate into reality its position of support for the sovereignty of Morocco over its southern provinces.
The French delegation, he continued, includes investors eager to explore the investment opportunities abounding in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region with promising potential in many areas, specifying that the region lives at the rhythm of a significant development dynamic, following the launch by HM King Mohammed VI in 2015 of the New Development Model for the Southern Provinces. In addition to the president of the region’s council, Mr. Lecourtier had meetings with the wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Ali Khalil, and the president of the municipal council of Dakhla, Erragheb Hormatallah. On this occasion, Mr. Lecourtier and the delegation accompanying him followed a presentation on the PDR for which a budget of more than 4.36 billion dirhams was allocated. The French delegation also followed a presentation presented by the director of the Regional Investment Center, Mounir Houari, on the various aspects of development experienced by the region, in particular major infrastructure projects, investment opportunities and the facilities granted. to investors.
