Samsung HW-Q935D soundbar test: an immersive Dolby Atmos system designed for 55-inch TVs

The possibilities offered by the Samsung HW-Q935D are based on extensive connectivity and provided connectivity, despite some shortcomings. First of all, there is of course an HDMI eARC port and an optical input for a versatile connection to all types of . Samsung also gives us an HDMI input dedicated to hosting a source. In this configuration, the audio-video streams pass to the television through the soundbar in complete transparency.

Considering the high-end positioning of the HW-Q935D, we regret, however, that the 4K/120 Hz streams are not decoded. Same observation for the VRR and ALLM low latency technologies, essential for gamers. Fortunately, 4K/60 Hz and HDR remain supported.

In addition to a traditional Bluetooth receiver, the soundbar includes a wifi module. Lossless music streaming is thus possible thanks to the AirPlay 2, ChromeCast, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect protocols. However, in the absence of an auxiliary input and a USB-A port, the HW-Q935D ignores wired audio sources and files stored on a USB key.
