The leader of the Parti Québécois Paul St-Pierre Plamondon will rely on the president of his political party, Catherine Gentilcore, to try to wrest the Terrebonne riding from the CAQ during the by-election in the riding left vacant by Pierre Fitzgibbon, we have learned TVA Nouvelles premiere. She will initially be a candidate for the PQ nomination in the constituency.

Originally from Repentigny, the 39-year-old manager has chaired the Parti Québécois since October 2023. She had previously been vice-president of the National Executive Council of political training.
In addition to her functions within the PQ, she is currently president and CEO of Numana1, a company working in the field of digital technologies.
Holder of a bachelor’s degree in classical singing, Catherine Gentilcore also studied journalism at the University of Montreal and marketing communications at HEC Montreal.
In September, Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon announced his resignation, but Prime Minister François Legault has still not announced the triggering of the by-election in Terrebonne.
In 2022, the CAQ won the riding with 49.4% of the vote, far ahead of the other parties.
Before the arrival of Pierre Fitzgibbon in politics in 2018, Terrebonne had worn the colors of the Parti Québécois almost uninterrupted since 1976; Jean-François Therrien, of the ADQ, was elected there from 2007 to 2008.
Other candidates announced
On September 22, the Liberal Party of Quebec announced that it had made Virginie Bouchard its candidate in Terrebonne. Aged 27, she had already represented the PLQ in Repentigny in 2022; she finished fourth with 10% of the votes.
On October 15, Québec solidaire made Nadia Poirier its choice for the by-election in this riding. The 36-year-old candidate is a trainer at the Federation of General Practitioners of Quebec (FMOQ).
