The Operator Identity Statement, an additional lever to facilitate number portability (ANRT)

Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 3:45 p.m.

Rabat – Subscribers to national fixed and mobile networks will be able to port their numbers with greater ease and fluidity, thanks to the implementation of the Operator Identity Statement (RIO), the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency announced on Tuesday (ANRT).

This is an identifier assigned by each operator to the telephone number of its customer, specifies the ANRT in a press release, noting that the Rio provides information on the operator with whom the subscription or subscription is made, the category of customer (individual or professional) and the type (prepaid or postpaid) of the contract in force.

This identifier will change, consequently, in the event of porting the number to another operator as well as when the nature of the contract changes, indicates the same source, adding that the RIO is a 12-character alphanumeric code whose reading is ensured by the operators according to an algorithm decided between them.

This personal code is intended for use by its applicant. Thanks to its format, the risk of errors when entering personal data is reduced when processing portability requests between operators, while guaranteeing the integrity and confidentiality of the data.

To have their identifier (RIO), the interested customer (individual or professional), already identified, can, from November 13, 2024, call 1234 free of charge or send an SMS to the same number.

In the case of subscriptions in the “professional” category, the latter can contact their account managers directly and the RIO of their numbers will be notified to them by email, the press release concludes.
