Several flights scheduled to land at Montreal-Trudeau were diverted Monday evening, when a “parcel of interest” was detected, forcing the evacuation of an area of the airport. Shortly after midnight, however, the threat turned out to be “unfounded”.

The director of public relations at Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), Anne Marcotte, assured that the situation was back to normal. Analysis of the package therefore made it possible to rule out any threat, after it forced a preventive evacuation.
The area of the terminal evacuated was at the international arrivals level, the airport said on X. It was “mainly the baggage carousel area”.
In a second publication, the airport announced that several flights had been “diverted to other airports”. “The evacuation perimeter prevents[ait] border control of passengers”, we could also read.
Where the diverted flights ultimately landed was not known, since each airline has its own diversion plan.
According to the airport website, a number of flights scheduled to land between 10:30 p.m. and midnight had been delayed. At the time of writing, it was not possible to say whether all of these delays had a direct link to the package of interest.
The departures were not affected by the event, according to Mme Marcotte.
