Akhannouch: “HM the King places the Palestinian cause among the constants of the Kingdom’s foreign policy”

Mr. Akhannouch, who represents His Majesty the King at this Summit, recalled that the Sovereign had devoted a large space to the Palestinian question in His speech on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day, reaffirming His commitment to “ continue to support constructive initiatives aimed at finding practical solutions for the conclusion of a concrete and lasting ceasefire and the recovery of the humanitarian situation.”

The Sovereign had affirmed that “the worsening of the situation in the region requires moving away from the logic of crisis management in favor of the search for a definitive solution to this conflict”, noting that “if achieving a cessation of hostilities in Gaza is an urgent priority, this must be done in parallel with the opening of a political horizon capable of establishing a just and lasting peace in the region.

The Head of Government also recalled that His Majesty the King had noted that “the use of negotiations to resuscitate the peace process between the Palestinian and Israeli parties requires blocking the path to extremists of all sides”. The Sovereign further indicated that “security and stability will only be completely unsaturated in the region if this dynamic is part of the Two-State Solution, under which Gaza is an integral part of the territories of the independent Palestinian state, with Al-Quds Oriental as its capital.

Based on His political and humanitarian duty as President of the Al-Quds Committee, the Sovereign “gave His enlightened instructions to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee, to deliver humanitarian aid and urgent medical supplies to our Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Al Quds Acharif. This aid was sent via an unprecedented land route,” he recalled.

Mr. Akhannouch, in this regard, stressed that real peace in the Middle East region must guarantee Palestinians their legitimate rights, within the framework of the two-state solution, adding that Morocco condemns the decision to end to the activities of UNRWA, which he considers a direct threat to the existence of the Palestinian people.

He considered that Israel’s widening of the spiral of military violence in Lebanon is “clear proof that the entire region is heading towards a delicate phase with unpredictable consequences.” “This pushes us to question the real reasons for this escalation and who benefits from this tragic situation, knowing that efforts are still being made at more than one level to put an end to the ongoing war in Gaza for more than a year. year,” he observed.

The Kingdom, said Mr. Akhannouch, joins the rest of the Arab and Islamic countries in expressing its solidarity with Lebanon in order to preserve its sovereignty over all of its territories and to support its constitutional institutions, so as to consolidate the national unity and maintain the security and stability of this country.

The Head of Government is accompanied during this Summit, which is being held at the invitation of Saudi Arabia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita.

The Moroccan delegation notably includes the Moroccan ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States, Mohamed Ait Ouali, the Kingdom’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia and permanent representative of Morocco to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OCI), Mustapha Mansouri, as well as diplomatic executives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad.
