A 36-year-old man who was ordered not to approach his partner to whom he allegedly made death threats is now accused of having premeditatedly killed her in Candiac.
Shilei Du briefly appeared Monday morning by telephone from the hospital at the Longueuil courthouse.
He is suspected of the first degree murder of Guangmei Ye.
The authorities discovered the affair around noon yesterday in a residence on rue de Fontenelle. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
Until now, police had not revealed the exact circumstances surrounding the death of the victim, an expert in computer data analysis at Morgan Stanley, a world-renowned investment bank.
According to the act of denunciation consulted by The Journalthe crime could have been committed in the last few days, last Thursday, November 7.
The investigation was initiated by the Roussillon Intermunicipal Police Authority before being transferred to the Crimes Against Persons Division of the Sûreté du Québec.
Shilei Du was arrested in early September for making death threats against Guangmei Ye.
He was released on conditions on September 9 pending trial.
Guangmei Ye thus became the 23e woman murdered in the province since the beginning of the year and the 13e to die in a marital context.
