To stop Israel, Saudi Arabia relies on African countries, especially those with a Muslim majority. Nigeria, Somalia and Senegal are among these countries.
Indeed, the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, left the capital Abuja this Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the joint Arab-Islamic summit.
This summit, initiated by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, focuses on the current situation in the Middle East, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian crisis.
Scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024, this event brings together leaders from various countries to coordinate efforts for regional peace and stability.
During this summit, President Tinubu is expected to underline Nigeria’s position by calling for an immediate ceasefire and a lasting peaceful solution.
Nigeria, true to its commitments to world peace, will also highlight the importance of the two-State solution as a means to achieve lasting peace in the region.
This plea will be accompanied by a call to the international community to strengthen its actions in favor of this resolution.
Saudi Arabia relies on Muslim-majority African countries
Like Nigeria, other African countries with a Muslim majority have also responded to the call of the Riyadh summit.
The President of Somalia, HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Riyadh to participate in this high-level meeting, signaling his support for resolving the current humanitarian crises in Palestine, Lebanon, and across the region.
This summit aims to highlight the collective responsibility of Arab and Islamic nations in the face of humanitarian challenges, as well as their commitment to promoting peace and stability.
Likewise, the President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, traveled today to Riyadh to attend this extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
