November 10 marked the second commemorative day of the Festival of Remembrance organized in London. After an evening the day before at the Royal Albert Hall in London with Prince William, particularly tactile with her, Kate Middleton continued her official commitments by going to the Cenotaph in Whitehall with Sophie Rhys-Jones, Duchess of Edinburgh. The two women were photographed on the balcony, exchanging smiles and knowing looks.
Always dressed in black, like the previous day, the mother of George, Louis and Charlotte was dressed inun ensemble Catherine Walker (one of her favorite brands that she regularly wears at public events) and a Juliette Botterill hat with a mesh veil. She also had a poppy-shaped brooch on her jacket, diamond and pearl earrings that belonged to the late Queen and a silver brooch from the Queen's Dragoon Guardsa nod to his role as colonel-in-chief of the regiment according to Hello !.
As a reminder, members of the royal family all wore red poppies in tribute to those who died during the conflict. Queen Elizabeth II used to wear five poppies and it is believed that they represented each service of the war: Army, Navy, RAF, Civil Defense and Women.
The parade has King Charles III leading his troops at the head of the procession, followed by his son, Prince William, his brother, the Duke of Edinburgh, and his sister, Princess Anne. The three members of the royal family then, each in turn, place a wreath of poppies at the foot of the Cenotaph.
A ceremony in honor of British servicemen who fell in action during the First World War during which Prince William donned the uniform of the Royal Air Force, while King Charles looked elegant in his uniform as a fleet admiral of the Royal Navy.
Camilla, still absent
Following the ceremony, members of the Royal Family left the Cenotaph and entered the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Queen Camilla was not present due to her lung infection.
A press release regarding his state of health was shared on November 9, 2024 : “Following doctors' advice to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risks, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend's commemoration events.”.
