Women’s Champions League: AS FAR faces TP Mazembe to confirm its supremacy

Semi-finalist of the previous edition of the African Women’s Champions Leaguel’AS FAR successfully entered the competition in the 2024 version of C1 by winning a first victory (3-0) on Saturday at the expense of the Senegalese club Eagles of the Medina as part of the first day of the group stage of the tournament. Khadija Er-Rmichi’s teammates started the hostilities very early with a first goal from Doha El Madani (7th). With confidence, the same player repeats her feat by scoring a double (30th), thus allowing her team to make the break.

Faced with the speed of the military’s offensive actions, the Eagles of Medina cowered in their zone to try to plug the breaches. Despite this, during added time of the first period, AS FAR managed to add a third goal on a penalty converted by Aziza Rabah. After the break, the pace dropped and the soldiers opted for a defensive game in order to maintain their advantage. Opposite, the Senegalese attempts remained timid and without danger for the Moroccan defense.

Test taken against TP Mazembe this Tuesday

If during the first match, the players of theAS FAR strolled against the Eagles of the Medina, this is not likely to be the case in the second military duel in the continental tournament. Indeed, the capital club crosses paths with another regular in the women’s C1, the TP Mazembe. Coached by Moroccan Lamia Boumehdi, the Corbelles will not be easy to negotiate for Amine Alioua’s protégés. In addition to knowing the AS FAR style of play, TP Mazembe is playing its match with full confidence after its victory (2-0) during the first day of Group A over the South African club of the University Of Western Cape. This means that the stakes of the meeting are high for both clubs, since each of the two teams aims to finish this phase as leader of the group.
