Facing “the privatization of the SNCF”four union federations have come together to implement an indefinite strike planned from December 11. The latter are calling for the establishment of a moratorium against the dismantling of freight.
Dismantling of Fret SNCF, opening of regional lines to competition, fragmentation of the network, for the rail unions, there is no shortage of reasons for setting up a strike. Gathered to bend the government, four railway union federations (CGT, UNSA, Solidaires Sud, CFDT) reiterated in a joint press release their desire to influence the balance of power, reports BFMTV.
The latter thus filed a strike notice from Wednesday November 20 at 7 p.m., until Friday 22 at eight a.m., described as“ultimatum”as well as a renewable movement from December 11 at 7 p.m. sharp. Through these actions, the railway workers are demanding a moratorium against the dismantling of Fret SNCF and the opening of regional lines to competition.
“We are currently in the process of privatizing the SNCF”
For Fabien Villedieu, Sud Rail union delegate, “we are currently in the process of privatizing the SNCF: at low intensity, discreetly, in small steps, we go first through the subsidiaries, we go to private companies, it is not all in one go like in England in 1994, it is happening gradually, but we are in the process of privatizing the SNCF We are privatizing the SNCF in the middle of the climate crisis, it's really the good idea of the moment.he concludes at the microphone of BFMTV.
Contacted by AFP, SNCF management did not wish to comment on the strike notice decision decided by the four federations. Friday November 8, on TF1, the Minister of Transport François Durovray indicated on this subject: “I am the Minister of Transport, I am not the boss of the SNCF, it is up to the boss of the SNCF and his teams to discuss with his employees.”
