Gendarmes, supported by around fifteen hooded police officers from the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of Nantes (44) jointly carried out an impressive operation at the Pont de la Corde, in Henvic (29), this Friday 8 November 2024, at the very beginning of the afternoon.
A short chase
A roadblock had been set up at the Corde bridge and two cars forced it. Several shots were fired. Testimonies collected on social networks report detonations. A priori, a chase would have started in the direction Henvic – Saint-Martin-des-Champs, on the D58. It was short-lived since the two cars that fled were intercepted near the place called Le Croissant, at the Henvic exit.
At 2:24 p.m. this Friday, while the latter were being loaded onto two tow trucks, the police left the scene and freed the road, closed to traffic for a few dozen minutes. From a source close to the case, there are two arrests. As of 3:20 p.m. this Friday, it is not known if there are any injuries.
Suspected of being the Morlaix shooters
Contacted at 4 p.m., the Brest public prosecutor, Camille Mansioni, confirmed “that several shots were fired to slow down the vehicle, but there were no injuries as a result of these shots”. The prosecutor also confirms that “this operation is indeed linked to that of the people wanted in Taulé [opération du mardi 5 novembre, NDLR] as part of an ongoing procedure. But that it is, “for the moment, not possible to confirm whether the two people arrested are indeed those sought”.
According to our information, these are young adults, also suspected of being the perpetrators of the gunshots at the entrances to buildings in Morlaix, in the Kerfraval and Black Virgin districts. Involved in drug trafficking, they were wanted by police services other than the Morlaix police station.
