Sharjah – The Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, is participating in the 43rd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) in the United Arab Emirates, through its many diverse publications and varied, led by the new issue of the magazine “Roya… The cultural heritage of ancestors through the eyes of children” revealed exclusively by the Foundation at this remarkable international event, organized from November 6 to 17, 2024, which pays tribute in Morocco, guest of honor of this edition.
In its space at the Morocco pavilion, the Foundation exhibits its publications and educational, digital and audiovisual tools, which it produces as part of its missions of education, awareness and synergistic federation of stakeholders, with QR codes to facilitate access, indicates the Foundation in a press release.
Exclusively… the new magazine issue “Roya… The cultural heritage of the ancestors through the eyes of children”
The Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat exclusively reveals the new special issue of Roya magazine on the occasion of its participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair.
This special issue stands out for its development as part of one of the workshops organized by the Foundation during the 29th edition of the Rabat International Publishing and Book Fair, during which the middle school students who produced the content of the magazine benefited from training focused on the supervision and improvement of their creative work by experts and specialists in the field.
The middle school students also benefited from training in the methodology for using digital tools to transform their creative productions into interactive content accessible online.
The “Roya” magazine is the first of its kind in Morocco, so its content is produced by middle school students under the age of 15 who benefit from the “I discover my heritage” program, carried out by the Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and UNESCO.
The theme of the new issue of the magazine was “Intangible Heritage”. The middle school students produced artistic productions (comic strips and photos), literature (poetry and stories) and journalism (Report, Interview and Portrait).
Books and references, publications and reports, podcasts and virtual tours…
The Foundation paves the way for visitors to the show’s Moroccan pavilion to learn more about the rich and diverse heritage of the city of Rabat. It allows them to understand its importance by relying on modern means of awareness raising in line with technological development.
The Foundation provides access to its educational kits on the heritage of the city of Rabat and the city of Taroudant, which it produced as part of its educational program “I discover my heritage”, as well as booklets which bring together the productions artistic works of the beneficiaries of the educational program “I draw my heritage”, both in Rabat and in Taroudant.
In addition, the Foundation’s publications offer a tour of the eight components of the world heritage sites of Rabat by publishing: “Rabat… Heritage of Humanity”, which contains photographs and previously unpublished information on these sites, which have made the the subject of an urban exhibition organized by the Foundation to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the inscription of Rabat on the World Heritage List.
The Foundation is also exhibiting its publication entitled “The Rabat Carpet, quite an art” developed on the occasion of its exhibition as part of the 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
From Sharjah, visitors to the Foundation space can learn about the heritage sites of Rabat by facilitating access to these sites in an innovative and simplified way based on the virtual tours offered by the Foundation at the show, a pioneering experience which takes the general public to Fort Rothenburg and the Qasba des Oudaia in Rabat as part of the “Digitalization of Heritage” program.
Regarding Podcasts, the different series produced by the Foundation: Tell me Rabat, Tell me Rabat abroad, From generation to generation and I tell my heritage, are designed to transport listeners into the depths of this historic city, through interviews, testimonies and confessions documenting collective memory based on human stories and stories.
