A system will hit Quebec during the day and is expected to continue into the night. Environment Canada has issued tornado watches for several areas of the province. Forecast.
In short :
Severe thunderstorms
The risk of thunderstorms is present for the majority of regions of Quebec this Thursday. However, the sectors affected by violent storms are delimited by the red and orange zones. Western Quebec could see action in the afternoon and evening.
Risk of tornadoes
Supercells could produce tornadoes in these areas due to the high risk of rotation. The west of the province is particularly affected by severe weather. A watch was issued early Thursday afternoon. Abitibi, Outaouais, Hautes-Laurentides and part of Haute-Mauricie are found in this critical trajectory.
Rotation possible
These frontal storms could be generous with supercells. Threatening clouds are likely to rotate due to altitude and directional shear. The regions affected by the risk of tornadoes should be monitored late in the afternoon.
