The 12th day of the electoral campaign was marked by intense activity from the different coalitions, each pursuing its objectives of mobilization and rapprochement with Senegalese citizens.
The PASTEF coalition, led by Ousmane Sonko, brought together impressive crowds in the north of the country. The national caravan, on its way to the Mawade Wade stadium in Saint-Louis, where a major meeting dedicated to the North Pole will be held, was one of the highlights of this day of campaigning. Sonko increased discussions on the key themes of his program, emphasizing “profound change” and mobilizing activists and supporters around his vision for the country.
The Republican coalition Samm Sunu Rew Jotali Askan met the residents of Darou Thioub, where they expressed their concerns related to access difficulties, lack of infrastructure, insecurity and unemployment. Coalition leaders have committed to defending these needs in the National Assembly.
Amadou Ba, leader of the coalition Peace And Prosperitytraveled through several towns from Thiès to Saint-Louis, via Tivaouane, Kébémer and Louga. The coalition carried a message of peace and solidarity, strengthening its ties with local populations and calling for a prosperous future for all Senegalese.
In Rufisque, the candidates took the time to listen to residents of neighborhoods like Diakhaye, where there is a lack of infrastructure, insecurity, unemployment and challenges related to sanitation. Youth, particularly concerned about education, expressed their desire for a better educational future for their children.
In the south of the country, the coalition Dekkal Terangaalthough active in Sédhiou, Goudomp, Kolda and Vélingara, had to cancel certain stages for logistical reasons. Other coalitions, such as Dunda Leneen in Podor and Matam and Help Senegalmaintained their routes despite the challenges of the campaign. Macky Sall’s coalition continued its journey in the south, with a stop in Kolda, led by Me Sidiki Kaba and Mamadou Lamine Thiam.
Ousmane Kane, from the coalition RV Naataanguewas warmly welcomed by the inhabitants of Younouféré, while Abdoulaye Sylla, from And Bessal Senegalmet the Caliph Khalilou Maké Sanokho in Touba Sanokho, after visiting the Caliphs of Medina Baye and Léona Niassene. These visits strengthened ties with religious leaders and made it possible to solicit their support.
Some coalitions, such as Gokh You Besswere on display at the Mbour fishing quay. In Grand Yoff and other neighborhoods of Dakar, the coalition Defar Sa Gokh also held large mobilizations, with a caravan traveling through various strategic locations in the capital.
The day ended with rich discussions on the challenges facing young people, notably unemployment, education and professional integration. In Kidira, the candidates discussed with young people how to improve their future prospects. Aïda Dème, from the Fédération du Renouveau, held a meeting at Sicap Liberté 3, attracting a crowd of enthusiastic supporters.
The political transfer window is also in full swing, with numerous rallies and transfers between the different coalitions. ADji Mergane Kanouté, initially invested on the national list of the coalition Help Senegal in 24th position, decided to join PASTEF. Furthermore, the former Minister of Youth and head of the departmental list in Guédiawaye for the inter-coalition Help Senegal / Peace and Prosperity / Protect Your LanguageNéné Fatoumata Tall called on her allies to support the list Peace And Prosperityled by Amadou Ba, emphasizing the importance of unity to guarantee a better future for the country.
This 12th day of the campaign marks an intensification of exchanges with local populations. Each coalition is refining its strategies to meet voters’ expectations and promote its respective visions, less than a week before the end of the electoral campaign.
