Experience – Renovation and inauguration of two courts in Guédiawaye!

« Jr. NBA & AFD Experience » is launched in Senegal. This project, already in force in African countries, promotes access to sport and its use to raise awareness among young people about education. This program, which also includes the development of local infrastructure, renovated the basketball court at Hamo 4, Guédiawaye.

The inauguration of the sports infrastructure which includes two basketball courts, changing rooms and toilets took place this Thursday. The French Development Agency and the NBA Africa which financed this project were present. In addition to their partner Seed Project which takes care of the coach training and weekly programs for children. The idea of ​​this project is to use basketball to promote social inclusion and empowerment of children in primary and secondary schools.

The event brought together 150 girls and boys aged 16 and under. They benefited from a clinic with coaches who have just completed three days of training at Seed Academy (Thies). Numbering 20 (10 men and women), these technicians are being trained by an NBA Africa instructor on using basketball to learn life skills that will educate thousands of Senegalese boys and girls on the importance of health physical and mental, well-being and social cohesion…

According to the report of the program launched in 2021, Basketball Experience has reached nearly 90,000 boys and girls aged 12 to 17 and 460 coaches and physical education teachers to date. Launched in Guédiawaye this Thursday, November 7, other locations will also host the program. St. Louis is the next destination.
