Quebecers who purchased one of the breads affected by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s recall for the possible presence of pieces of metal will be refunded.

“This is the usual recall procedure. The stores are used to it and are doing it quickly,” assures a manager at Metro, Geneviève Grégoire.

The Quebec grocer only sold one product affected by the November 1 recall, indicates the spokesperson, namely the all-dressed POM bread.

Consumers simply have to return the product to the store to be reimbursed. If the bread matches the one in the recall, they do not need to present their invoice.

“With a best before date of November 7 or 9, we reimburse without problem,” indicates Metro.

Metal inside

Buns, hamburger buns and hot dog buns from several brands are being recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency due to the possible presence of pieces of metal inside.

The recall affects Country Harvest, Deli World, D’Italiano, Giant Value, Great Value, President’s Choice, No Name and Wonder brand breads, it is stated in the recall notice.

White, brown, but also multigrain breads, for hamburgers or hot dogs are targeted.

These products should therefore not be used, sold, served or distributed, the government organization stressed.

No details were given by the CFIA regarding possible injuries due to the presence of metal.

Details of the products covered are available here.
