With unfailing dignity, Kamala Harris admitted her defeat late Wednesday afternoon in front of her collapsed supporters gathered at Howard University in Washington. “A fundamental principle of American democracy is to accept the results when you lose an election. This is what distinguishes us from a monarchy or a tyranny.” She had previously called Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory. A phone call that Joe Biden has been waiting for four years from the Mar-a-Lago billionaire, who has never acknowledged his 2020 defeat.
“I am so proud of our campaign,” continued the candidate. She did not express the slightest self-criticism on the reasons for her final failure. But the Democrats did not wait for her to take charge. The candidate had not finished her speech when Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders opened fire. “The Democratic Party has abandoned the working class. This should not be a big surprise: she abandoned us,” he said in a press release.
