French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived in Israel on Wednesday evening for a visit during which he is also due to visit the Palestinian territories.

Barrot assures, on this occasion, that “France will continue to do everything in its power to free its own, and all the hostages still held in Gaza”, after having spoken with the families of the two French hostages still detained, and to which he “once again expressed the emotion and solidarity of the Nation”.
This visit by the tenant of the Quai d’Orsay was announced Tuesday evening on France 2.
“France has a vocation to carry messages and that is why I will go tomorrow evening to Israel and the Palestinian territories to meet the authorities, humanitarian actors, to carry the voice of France in this region where the war has has already lasted far too long,” declared Jean-Noël Barrot to detail the objectives of his trip to the Middle East.
For its part, the Quai d’Orsay indicates that the visit will make it possible to “continue a demanding dialogue with Israel on Gaza, Lebanon and the situation in the Middle East, to continue (the) exchanges with the Palestinian Authority, an essential partner for implement the two-State solution, to advance the parameters of a security and diplomatic solution in Lebanon, particularly after the conference organized in Paris on October 24, and to mark the continuity of French commitment in the region the following day of the results of the American elections.
As a reminder, since the cross-border attack perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, Israel has continued its aggression on the Gaza Strip, despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
Since then, more than 43,000 people have been killed, mainly children and women, and more than 100,000 others have been injured, according to Palestinian health authorities.
Israeli aggression has displaced almost the entire population of the territory under an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, drinking water and medicine.
Israel has also launched massive and deadly airstrikes across Lebanon since September 23 against what it claims are Hezbollah targets, displacing more than 1.34 million people.
The death toll from the Israeli attack on Lebanon since October 8, 2023 has increased to 3,050 dead and 13,658 injured, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
