Brussels – The Moroccan Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg organized, Wednesday evening, a ceremony on the occasion of the celebration of the 49th anniversary of the Green March, marked by the screening of the feature film “ Al Massira”, directed by Youssef Britel.
This event, which took place in the presence of a large audience of members of the Moroccan community living in Belgium and several Moroccan and Belgian personalities, highlighted the epic Green March, launched by the late HM Hassan II to complete the territorial integrity of Morocco, as well as the process of all-out development of the southern provinces of the Kingdom and the diplomatic successes achieved in the service of the national cause.
In a speech on this occasion, the Moroccan ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, Mohamed Ameur, recalled the spirit, philosophy and meaning of the glorious Green March, emphasizing that it was a true epic for the Moroccan people. united behind his glorious Throne to defend and complete the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
“Through the celebration of this anniversary, the Moroccan people are celebrating three marches that Morocco has undertaken concomitantly, namely the Green March, a stroke of genius by the late HM Hassan II, which astonished the whole world and which allowed in record time to recover the Saharan provinces of Morocco, in addition to the march for the development of the southern provinces, which made this region a model of development, and the diplomatic march, which reaped considerable achievements and brought together a broad international support for the Moroccan character of the Sahara,” said Mr. Ameur.
The screening of the film “Al Massira” allows us to remember and raise awareness of the epic of the Green March, especially among the younger generations of Moroccans living in Belgium, who remain very attached to their country of origin and fervently defend the national cause. , said the ambassador.
The feature film “Al Massira” retraces the epic of the Green March through the eyes of different characters, notably Massira, a woman born on the day of this historic event. Its history intertwines with that of those who walk, of people who cross paths and whose destinies complement each other for a single aspiration, to contribute their stone to the building of territorial integrity and modern Morocco.
The cast of the film, released in 2016, brings together, among others, the actors Mourad Zaoui, Ghalia Benzaouia, Saadia Azgoune, Mohamed Khouyi, Mohamed Choubi and Rachid El Ouali.
