Last Sunday, November 3, an 80-year-old man was found dead in an apartment in Sierre. His 77-year-old wife was seriously injured. The Valais police announced that they had arrested a 59-year-old man, who was in reality the stepson of the two victims.
The latter would already be known to the courts, for facts dating back to the end of September. Indeed, the suspect had been sentenced by criminal order for threats against his wife, according to “Le Nouvelliste”.
The suspect’s couple – who lived in separate rooms – had been struggling for many months. The wife wanted to file for divorce. Monsieur threw repeated tantrums.
On the evening of September 22, 2024, the man returned home in the early morning. Yet another argument broke out. The suspect then took a screwdriver out of his pocket, pointing it in the direction of his wife.
The Sierre Court found the husband guilty of threats and sentenced him to a ten-day fine, suspended for two years. But also a procedural fee of 450 francs.
Still according to our colleagues, this is the only sentence handed down against the defendant. Let us also remember that the Valais cantonal police, in their press release last Monday, ruled out the use of a firearm in the case of the death of the 80-year-old man.
