In an interview given to the newspaper Le Quotidien on the sidelines of the electoral campaign for the legislative elections on November 17, the head of the list of the Jamm ak Njariñ coalition, Amadou Bâ reacts to the controversy raised by the declaration of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. According to the latter, more than 1000 billion CFA francs were found in “a single bank account” by the new authorities.
“It is undeniable that no bank in Dakar, or even in the UEMOA area, holds such a sum in an account,” corrects the former Prime Minister. However, Amadou Bâ is not as categorical regarding “banks located outside UEMOA”. “I can’t say,” he said.
The newspaper’s interlocutor notes in a mocking tone that “[l’actuel] Prime Minister just like [lui]is a tax inspector, which can explain his tendency to want to dig around, scrutinize the figures and see billions everywhere. In any case, suggests the candidate for the legislative elections, “it is important to highlight this affair which, [son] opinion, seems particularly exaggerated and requires clarification.”
