Macron congratulates Trump before the final results of the presidential election

While the results are not yet final, the French president sent his congratulations to Donald Trump and said he was “ready to work” with him.

“For more peace and prosperity.” A few minutes after the end of Donald Trump’s speech, who claimed his victory in the American presidential election before they were even known, Emmanuel Macron sent him his congratulations. He is thus the first leader of a major Western country to have applauded Donald Trump’s victory.

“Congratulations President Donald Trump,” wrote the French president, who said he was “ready to work together as we have been able to do for four years”, during Donald Trump’s first term.

“With your convictions and with mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity,” added the French head of state.

Still on his X account, Emmanuel Macron announced that he had “exchanged with Chancellor Olaf Scholz”, his German counterpart. “We will work for a more united, stronger, more sovereign Europe in this new context. By cooperating with the United States of America and defending our interests and our values,” he wrote.

“The greatest comeback in history”

At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed “the greatest comeback in history”, the victory – still unofficial – marking according to him “a powerful re-engagement in the great alliance” with Israel.

In a long speech to his cheering supporters at his headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida, Donald Trump claimed a “political victory never seen before in our country”, without waiting for the final count of the vote.

The former Republican president promised to “heal” America in front of his supporters gathered in Florida. The leader of the Republicans in the House of Representatives has already congratulated “president-elect” Donald Trump. The count is still underway in many polling stations, but a defeat for his Democratic rival Kamala Harris seems more and more likely as the decisive states fall into the hands of the 78-year-old tribune.
