Charity watch auction: there will be no 11th Only Watch

Published on November 6, 2024 at 04:58.

  • The Monegasque association behind the Only Watch watch auctions has decided to no longer schedule a new event. Nearly 130 million euros were raised in ten editions.

  • The success of Only Watch had made it an essential event in the industry, beyond its charitable vocation. To the point of making the event a platform for establishing the value of brands.

  • The partnership between the association and the watchmakers should continue, but in another form. Always to fight against Duchenne dystrophy, a childhood illness without treatment.

The news came without anyone expecting it: there will be no 11th edition of the Only Watch charity watch sale. The board of directors of the Monegasque Association against Myopathies-Only Project (AMM-Only Project) has taken the sine die decision not to schedule an auction, “without the need to organize a new fundraising event at short term,” says management.

In ten editions, nearly 130 million francs have been raised. This leaves enough room to continue ongoing research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an orphan childhood disease that affects “around 1 in 3,500 boys”. A molecule has been identified, currently in phase 1/2A clinical study. The objective is also to concentrate resources on the cause, of which Only Watch was the showcase.
