More than 20 positions eliminated at Auchan in , according to the CFDT

While the Auchan group announces the elimination of around ten stores and nearly 2,400 jobs in , the should be affected, with 23 positions eliminated in hypermarkets, according to the CFDT.

“People are shocked, there are employees crying, it’s complicated.” Auchan employees were informed in the morning of the first measures of the social plan in Loiret, Tuesday November 5. And if no store closures were announced at the beginning of the afternoon in the department, 23 positions were eliminated in the hypermarkets, indicates Caroline Blot, general secretary of the CFDT in Loiret – and herself an employee at the Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle hypermarket.

The distributor Auchan announces plans to cut 2,389 jobs in France

In the departments as in the hierarchy

“All the group's hypermarkets are affected: they are eliminating sales positions in telephony, television, household appliances. We will now be on self-service. Afterwards, they may recreate positions to fill these departments .”

The position of sales manager will also disappear in certain hypermarkets (“in others, we give them one last chance”).

Finally, the position of planner, “which was created after the last social plan and the disappearance of several management positions, is also eliminated in all hypermarkets in France. In the hierarchy, it was number 3 in the store”.

“No layoffs”

Small consolation, “we are not talking about layoffs, but about voluntary departures or transfers”. Not like “the dry layoffs” in the three hypermarkets and the supermarket whose closure has already been announced, in Lorraine and in the Massif Central – in total, we are heading towards around ten closures, including the complete list has not yet been revealed.

In total, 23 positions would therefore be affected in Loiret: seven at the Auchan hypermarket in Gien (out of 150 employees); eight at that of Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle, which has around 400 positions; eight also in Olivet (out of a workforce of around 400).

“Four years ago, during the last social plan, the CSE was informed and was able to support the employees. There, they were informed this morning at work, before any official information,” says Caroline Blot indignantly.

“I fear that this is only the first alert before something more serious. They hope to make money with the takeover of Casino, and the agreement with Intermarché for a stronger power plant. If they do not succeed, It doesn't smell good, especially for hypermarkets. Supermarkets are the only stores that work, the only ones that bring in money.”
