Final Ufoa/a U17 tournament: Senegal overthrows Mali

The Senegal U17 national team won the Union of West African Federations (UFOA A U17) tournament trophy yesterday, Monday, November 4. Trailing (2-0) in the first period, Lionceaux were able to raise their spirits to equalize and end the game with a score of 3 to 3. The Senegalese cadets will finally win in the penalty shootouts (3-3, 5 -4 TAB). They suddenly take their revenge in front of the “Eaglets” Malians who won the 2022 edition.

After having pocketed its qualification for the next CAN, the Senegal U17 team finished in apotheosis by winning the final of the UFOA A tournament which pitted it against that of Mali yesterday, Monday November 4 at the Abdoulaye Wade annex stadium in Diamniadio. A happy outcome for a Senegalese selection which started the game with difficulty. From the first minute, the Malians surprised the Lion Cubs with an early goal conceded in the first minute by Seydou Dembélé following a shot repelled by goalkeeper Vincent Gomis which he took back into the goals. Cooled from the start, Pape Ibrahima Faye’s foals put their foot on the ball and tried to equalize. But the goal was slow to come despite good scoring opportunities. Worse, the Malian cadets increased the score and returned to the break with a 2-0 lead.

When we return from the locker room, the reaction is immediate. Very determined, the Cubs will raise their voice and manage to reduce the score to the 48the minute. They equalized five minutes later on an acrobatic recovery from Vincent Mendy in the 53rde minutes. Senegal is on the right track. Ibrahima Sory Sow will give Senegal the advantage with a third goal (3-2).

The meeting was, however, far from over since the Malian cadets will have enough resources to snatch the equalizer (3-3) on a goal from Aboubacar Camara (67e). In the penalty shootout, the Cubs will secure and win with a score of (5-4 Tab). Senegal suddenly takes revenge against the Malian “Aiglons” who won the 2022 edition.
