The latest resource assessment of the project Achmmach in the Meknes regioncarried out by the independent firm Cube Consulting according to Australian JORC standards (2012), brings the total resources to 39.1 million tonnes (Mt) of orewith an average tin content of 0.55%. This represents 213,000 tonnes oftin content, an increase of 33% compared to the 2021 assessment. This jump results from several key factors:
- The expansion of the areas of forage : with 18 new diamond drill holes in the Sidi Addi area.
- Reducing the cut-off threshold of the tin content to 0.26% compared to 0.35% previously, in accordance with the results of a recent scoping study.
- The addition of inferred resources, located around the initial high-grade zones.
The upward revision of the assessment of resources allows Atlantic Tin to solidify its operating plan and plan for a feasibility study integrating the neighboring Samine mine. Indeed, the Achmmach project provides for a underground mining using mechanized caving methods. This approach not only allows the ore to be efficiently extracted while reducing losses, but it also ensures minimal return of waste to the surface. The company plans to reuse this waste as cemented backfill to reinforce the underground galleries, an approach aligned with the environmental standards in force. Furthermore, by partnering with the Samine treatment plant, Atlantic Tin ensured the sustainability of the infrastructure necessary for processing the tin ore taken from the Achmmach site. The acquisition of this factory will make it possible to restart activities and optimize the production chain.
“This increase in the resource estimate will serve as the basis for the current feasibility study of the combined Achmmach-Samine project. An updated estimate of ore reserves will be produced once the technical studies are sufficiently advanced. This increase in tin resources clearly places Achmmach among the largest unexploited tin deposits on a global scale,” explains Simon MilroyPDG d’Atlantic Tin Ltd.
With these new resources, the project Achmmach is positioned not only as a first-rate source of tin but also as a leading mining project to meet the growing demand for this metal, essential in the electronic manufacturing and the high-tech industries.
