€700 for an improved PS5: the bet is daring, but Sony seems to have put in the means to justify this price. A few days before its release, we take stock of this new console.

With its 8-core/16-thread AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor and its GPU capable of delivering 16.7 TF of computing power (compared to 10.23 TF for the standard PS5), we are talking about a significant improvement in performance.
We now know that the console also has 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, plus 2 GB of slower DDR5 memory dedicated to the system.
On the storage side, Sony has thought big with a 2 TB SSD, enough to comfortably store a nice library of games.
On the other hand, the maximum consumption announced is 390 W (compared to 340 W for the standard PS5), the PS5 Pro is therefore more energy intensive. Sony specifies that this peak in consumption will not be constant, it is rather logical.

An ambitious launch catalog, but notable absentees
From its launch, the PS5 Pro will be able to count on an impressive catalog of 55 optimized games. We find major titles like Baldur's Gate 3, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarök. These games will benefit in particular from advanced ray tracing and Sony's new proprietary scaling system, the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.
However, certain absences raise questions. Gran Turismo 7, although announced as compatible, is conspicuous by its absence. Same observation for Final Fantasy XVI, which suffered from performance problems on standard PS5. These titles should receive their update later.
