41st edition of Operation Red Nose: Rosalie Vaillancourt will be the spokesperson this year

After Dany Turcotte last year, it is the young comedian Rosalie Vaillancourt who will carry the torch of the 41^e Operation Red Nose campaign, which will take place from November 29 to December 31, in several cities in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada.

The organizers revealed the details of the campaign on Monday morning. The one who is also an actress confided to Journal that it was a completely natural decision for her to join Red Nose.

“Red Nose, it belongs to us and it’s part of us as Quebecers, so I’m happy to get involved. It shows how much it is part of our values ​​to take care of our families.”

The one who loves the holiday season says she is very proud to participate in the promotion of responsible behavior so that everyone can return home safely.

“Red nose helps to lift a weight, knowing that there is a plan if Monuncle has taken too much crème de menthe, if my sister has smoked too much bat in the back of the garage or if my cousin hasn’t slept for three days because he just had a baby,” she said with a laugh.

Last year, in Quebec, 24,000 rides were carried out by 22,600 volunteers. However, the general director of Operation Red Nose, Marilyn Vigneault, is not worried that the volunteers, who are the cornerstone of the organization, are still there this year.

“Recruiting volunteers has always been our main focus. The more volunteers we have, the better our service will be. It’s always a challenge, but we are lucky to have positive notoriety and we have a very festive connotation. For the moment, we are doing pretty well after 41 years,” she explains.

She also believes that Rosalie Vaillancourt will be the right person to bridge the gap between generations and, at the same time, encourage young and old alike to use Nez rouge and lend a helping hand.

For his part, the president and CEO of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, Éric Ducharme, says he is happy to see that progress and awareness are continuing even if drunk driving remains one of the main causes. accidents in Quebec.

From 2017 to 2021, accidents due to alcohol caused an average of 85 deaths and 200 serious injuries each year.

“There is an awareness among young people compared to my time. In the 80s, this was not common and Red Nose was starting, but if I look at my children, it is clear that they already know in advance who will be the designated driver for the weekend,” rejoices the one who is also honorary president of this 41^e edition.
