Charleroi: Quai 10 wants to guarantee its future with a new call for bonds, at 4 years

The decision was therefore made to relaunch a call for bonds, this time for four years. With gross interest set at 2.75% and denominations set at €75, the objective is to raise at least €50,000. “This sum should allow us to face current technical challengessummarizes the director of Pier 10, Amélie Jennequin. Films are becoming longer and longer and, above all, increasingly cumbersome in terms of computer files. Increasing the storage capacity of our servers costs at least €10,000.”

The form to subscribe to these bonds will be put online this November 5, on the website www.quai10.be. The subscription period ends on January 6, 2025. At the same time, the management of Pier 10 made 2017 subscribers aware of the current situation, in order to encourage them to continue their support. “58% of our current subscribers have responded to our request so far and 64% of these have agreed to extend their obligations over four years”reveals Amélie Jennequin.

In terms of figures, there was a delay effect and it is only at the end of 2024 that the city center cinema returns to its pre-pandemic figures. The projection for the end of the year envisages €929,409 in own revenue, a little more than the €927,048 in subsidies. In 2023, the proportion was 55% subsidies for 45% own revenues. Simon Bullman, chairman of the board of directors of Pier 10, affirms: without being a long, quiet river, the management of the moving image center will not turn into a disaster film: “At worst, there is a possible reserve, thanks to communicating vessels with Sambrinvest.”

New agreement for the nearby parking lot

To boost its appeal to the public, particularly beyond Charleroi, Quai 10 has just signed an unprecedented agreement with the Rive Gauche shopping car park: from 6 p.m. on weekdays and at any time on Sundays and public holidays, a parking ticket at €2.50 can be purchased at the end of the cinema screening. This system is in addition to existing agreements with the Place de la Digue car park, accessible for €1.5 per three hours, at any time, via the Quai 10 ticket offices.
