. Jean-Pierre Papin kept on the OM reserve bench

Jean-Pierre Papin stays. After several days of uncertainty regarding his situation, the 1991 Ballon d'Or was finally confirmed as coach of the OM reserve by the management. Papin had, however, threatened the club with a departure because of a conflict with Ali Zarrak, head of the Pro 2 group of the Marseille club.

Ali Zarrak remains at the club but…

“I am a coach and I cannot accept that this person chooses my five substitutes. This is unacceptable. At one point, it clashes”“JPP” complained in the columns of La Provence. The situation had become unbearable for the coach of the OM reserve (N3) who spoke of threats suffered in recent weeks: “For three weeks, I have been living with three security cars in front of my house and it is unbearable to live with. »

Faced with this situation, Pablo Longoria, the president of OM, decided to summon the two men to clarify things. This Monday, November 4, the decision was made to keep them both. Jean-Pierre Papin still won his case since Ali Zarrak, close to Medhi Benatia (OM sports advisor), will no longer be in contact with the reserve. The 60-year-old coach will be able to make his return to his team's bench.
