The match between Mechelen and Union degenerated this Saturday. In added time, Lauberbach missed the inevitable. A cross was sent to him at the far post. Totally isolated, the German striker only had to push the ball into the back of the net but sent it over the frame.
It was after this failure that the Mechelen supporters started throwing cups onto the pitch. One notably landed on Anthony Moris, who remained on the ground following the previous action. The referee sent the 22 players back to the locker room and interrupted the match. The police even intervened to expel the supporters responsible for throwing cups from the stadium.
On the way to the locker room, an altercation took place between Moris and Mechelen coach Besnik Hasi. The Union goalkeeper obviously didn’t like a remark from the coach and things got worse… After the match was interrupted and they returned from the locker room, the two men received a yellow card, then… Mechelen is back to the score. A chaotic and catastrophic end to the match for the Union.
