The kingdom took part, Friday in Abuja, in a working meeting of energy ministers from member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Mauritania, aimed at examination of the implementation of the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project (Nigeria-Morocco).
The Moroccan delegation participating in this meeting included the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Ms. Leila Benali, and the Director General of the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), Ms. Amina Benkhadra, reports the MAP. The meeting aims to prepare the intergovernmental agreement on the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline which will be submitted for signature by the heads of state of ECOWAS member countries, Morocco and Mauritania.
For its part, a Nigerian media outlet stressed that Morocco, ECOWAS and Mauritania are making progress in the construction of the African Atlantic gas pipeline (AAGP). The parties examined, during the Abuja meeting, the financial cost of the project estimated at $26 billion. The Moroccan minister said she was optimistic about the project’s potential to open new markets and create jobs, the same source said.
