It's a “fight that will take years”. The Minister of the Interior went to Rennes this Friday, November 1, a week after the shooting which affected a five-year-old child, still between life and death. Thursday evening, gunshots also injured five teenagers in Poitiers. Faced with this episode of violence, Bruno Retailleau wanted to reiterate his firmness in the face of “drug traffickers”announcing a strengthening of resources to fight drug trafficking.

The minister first wants to attack people who buy drugs: “Drugs taste like blood because if there is no demand, there is no supply”he asserted. A “cash communication campaign”aimed at consumers, will be launched soon. “We must stop with the trivialization of drugs”insisted Bruno Retailleau.
He also hopes to find a consensus among parliamentarians for a new law. “at the very beginning of next year at the latest”. The goal: to equip ourselves with a legislative arsenal to strengthen the means of combating “drug trafficking”in particular those of the police investigation services which must be “revive and invigorate”. Calling for a strong response, he addresses in particular the deputies of the Socialist Party and the Republicans to achieve a “consensus which is not lukewarm water”.
CRS brigades sent as reinforcements to Rennes
For the tenant of Place Beauvau, it is necessary “ring the general mobilization” in “hitting the traffickers in the wallet”. Customs and tax services should therefore be mobilized. Otherwise, it will be “the Mexicanization of the country”assures Bruno Retailleau, referring to drug cartels in Latin America. “It’s a huge challenge to take on”he admits, to operate a “rupture” and a “change of frame”.

Police reinforcements have already been sent to Rennes and Poitiers. The CRS 82 patrols “starting tonight” in the Maurepas district of Rennes, considered a major deal point. Specialized field brigades are also expected to visit the site in the coming weeks.
