The investigation report into the Simplon accident weighs heavily on the CGN

The evil tongues feared that the four independent experts mandated by the CGN would be too complacent about the Simplon “catastrophe”. They can be reassured. This is far from being the case. On the contrary, the investigation report – presented this Friday to the press – points to several human errors, such as the underestimation of the risk represented by the release of the boat for testing on March 28. Experts also deplore the fact that the decision to moor the ship at Cully was not revised before Friday afternoon, despite several weather alerts, including the announcement of a strong storm. [vent du sud-est, ndlr]. It is in particular because of this wind, which usually blows on the top of Lake Geneva, that the sequence of known events could have taken place.
