As at the start of every month, many changes will come into force from this Friday, November 1st. Revaluation of the minimum wage, obligation for winter tires… Here, in detail, is what changes at the start of November.
There is, first of all, good news for employees with the legal minimum. November 1, 2024 marks a anticipated increase in the minimum wage of 2%, rising to 1,801.80 euros gross per month, or 1,426.30 euros net for 35 hours per week. This change results from a decree published on October 24, 2024 in response to changes in inflation. Consequently, already increased by 1.13% on January 1, 2024, the minimum wage will not be automatically adjusted on January 1, 2025.
Simultaneously, the guaranteed minimum, which serves as a reference for certain allowances and professional expenses, rises to 4.22 euros. For Mayotte, the gross hourly minimum wage also increases, reaching 8.98 euros, equivalent to 1,361.97 euros monthly.
Road safety: winter tire obligation
Between November 1 and March 31, in certain mountainous areas (Alps, Corsica, Central Massif, Jura massif, Pyrenees, Vosges massif), it is obligatory to equip your vehicle with winter tires or to have chains or snow socks. This rule aims to improve safety by reducing the risks of driving on snow-covered roads and to avoid blockages caused by unequipped vehicles. All vehicles with four wheels and more are affected.
New signs will indicate entry into these mandatory zonesand chains or socks must be stored on board the vehicle in the absence of snow or ice. 34 departments are subject to the obligation.
Accommodation: winter break
The winter break is the period during which proceedings for eviction of a tenant by an owner are suspended. It is set from November 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. However, it does not apply to certain people. This is the case, for example, of people benefiting from rehousing, residents of accommodation located in a building affected by a security order, squatters occupying a home, or even people whose eviction was decided for domestic or family violence.
After this period, if the situation persists, evictions may resume.
Public health: tobacco-free month
