Collapse of a seven-storey building in Nairobi

Searches continue after a seven-story building collapsed on Sunday in Kenya’s capital Nairobi. Located in Kahawa West, the building was completely reduced to a pile of rubble.

According to the Nairobi governor, two people, a woman and a man, were injured by falling debris when the seven-story building collapsed. They were near the building at the time of the incident. Their condition is stable, and they are receiving the necessary care.

Three days before the incident, a notice issued by Nairobi County ordered residents to vacate the seven-story building. Despite this evacuation, doubts persist as to the presence of possible victims under the rubble. Rescue teams continue their efforts, turning over piles of rubble in the hope of finding potential survivors. The situation remains worrying.

In addition, the authorities promised to arrest the owner of the building, a certain Patrick Rwamba, and to carry out audits on illegal construction in the Kenyan capital.

This decision aims to strengthen building safety and prevent future tragic accidents. However, building collapses are common in Nairobi, where demand for housing is high and unscrupulous developers often circumvent building regulations
