OpenAI announces that a “preliminary” version of its ChatGPT application is coming to Windows. Initially reserved for paid accounts, it notably makes it easier to use the famous conversational agent, whether to analyze documents or create images.
After the mobile version (on iOS and Android) and a first version for computer on macOS launched in June 2024, OpenAi presents the highly anticipated ChatGPT application for Windows.
For the moment, only paid account holders (ChatGPT Plus, Team, Edu and Enterprise) can download and benefit from it.
Regular users of the Web platform will not be disoriented, even if, since it is still a non-final version, it is still missing the voice functionalities or the authentication in Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive which will arrive later, when the application is open to everyone.
It therefore appears to be much more limited than under macOS for the moment, but nevertheless presents itself as a truly intelligent companion, from which we can ask what we want, analyze files and even generate images.
You will thus be able to summarize documentsprepare a professional presentation, find gift ideas or even create a personalized greeting card. In this sense, it poses as a direct competitor to Copilotthe AI developed by Microsoft and mainly based on… GPT-4. Moreover, like Copilot, ChatGPT is available under Windows 10 and 11.
The main advantage of using the application is its ease of use. You do not have to systematically connect to your account on the ChatGPT site to be able to benefit from it. It is therefore easier to access but also more integrated into your operating system, which, in the future, will allow it to interact with other applications and better protect your personal data.
