Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday expressed his condolences for the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinouar, killed Wednesday by Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip.

TEHRAN, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) — Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday expressed condolences over the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinouar, who was killed by Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

In a message published on his website, the Iranian leader described Mr. Sinouar as “a hero, a warrior and a commander… who was a brilliant figure of resistance and struggle.”

He added that Mr. Sinouar opposed the “cruel and aggressive enemy with a will of steel and slapped him with wisdom and courage.”

Mr. Khamenei recalled that Mr. Sinouar had left behind “the irreparable blow of October 7 in the history of the region”, adding that he had “achieved martyrdom with honor and pride”.

The Iranian head of state assured that, although the loss of Mr. Sinouar was “painful for the resistance front”, it would continue to advance without slowing down.

He said Iran would, as always, stand by and support resistance fighters.
