UPDATE ON THE SITUATION – The Civil Defense of the Gaza Strip indicated that it “There were dead people left in the rubble”among whom are women and children. Rescuers are still searching for survivors even though they lack the equipment to search the area.
An Israeli strike left at least 73 dead Saturday evening in a residential area of Beit Lahia, in the north of the Palestinian territory, the Civil Defense of the Gaza Strip reported.
«Civil Defense teams found 73 dead and a large number injured in a strike targeting a residential area” of Beit Lahia “and there are still dead people under the rubble», Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal told AFP.

Rescuers were still searching for survivors but lacked the equipment to search the area, he added.
Women and children affected
All the victims, including several families, were transported to Kamal Adwan hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp, south of Beit Lahia, the spokesperson said. The Hamas government media office confirmed the death toll, noting that women and children were among the dead.
The Israeli army claimed that the assessment given by the Gaza authorities “does not match» to the information in its possession, in particular “the ammunition used and the precision of a strike on a Hamas target».
