Traffic accident in Geneva – Injuries and roads closed

In the City of Geneva, night correspondents will be present on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the Plainpalais, Jonction and Acacias districts. These social mediation agents provide nighttime prevention and promote living well together.

These night correspondents travel on foot, in teams of two or three, with a jacket that allows them to be easily identified, the Municipality said in a press release on Friday. The City of Geneva implemented this system in October 2021 in the Ouche – Concorde – Franchises – Servette – Charmilles – Saint-Jean area.

Following the very satisfactory results observed, the system was deployed in 2023 in the Pâquis – Grottes -Saint-Gervais sector, specifies the City. The presence of night correspondents helps ease tensions between different population groups. It also aims to reduce the feeling of insecurity, reduce noise pollution, incivility and street harassment.

“The system is intended to cover the entire municipal territory,” underlines Christina Kitsos, mayor of the City of Geneva, in charge of the Department of Social Cohesion and Solidarity, quoted in the press release. Currently, the night correspondent team is made up of a manager, nine part-time people and three assistants.
