Survivor of the Charlie Hebdo attack in 2015, Simon Fieschi, former webmaster, has died

The attack on the Charlie Hebdo editorial staff dates back almost 10 years now. Since that terrible day, Simon Fieschi often testified about his life as a survivor.

But the man who was the webmaster and community manager of the editorial team died at the age of 41 this Thursday. It was him that the Kouachi brothers had shot first. “A Kalashnikov bullet hit his spine and Simon Fieschi has suffered the irreparable after-effects of this tragedy for nine years,” recalls the French daily, Le Figaro.

An investigation was opened following the discovery of the body of Simon Fieschi. Is it suicide? At present, no information has confirmed this hypothesis.

During the trial, the man testified “with modesty and humor”, remembers the editorial staff of Le Figaro. “I can no longer give the middle finger, but sometimes it itch,” he commented in particular.

There have been numerous reactions since the announcement of the death. François Hollande notably published a tribute to the survivor on X.
