European Open: the adventure ends for Zizou Bergs, beaten in the quarter-finals

Galvanized by the encouragement from the stands filled in his honor, the Limburger seemed liberated when he exulted after pocketing the first game of the second set. His opponent did not give in, however, and he had to conquer every point.

The break finally arrived, and Zizou Bergs had to chase the score again. The fire no longer caught, Giron once again stole the opponent’s commitment and flew to a clear success, after a flawless performance.

European Open – Jiri Lehecka is “ready to face” Zizou Bergs in the semis: “It would be a very good match”

In the semi-final, Marcos Giron will meet the Czech Jiri Lehecka (ATP 33/N.5), who took out the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP 11/N.2) in two sets, 6-4, 6-4.

The other meeting in the last four will pit the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut (ATP 60) against the Frenchman Hugo Gaston (ATP 77), who respectively eliminated the seeded N.3 and N.1, the Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime ( ATP 21) and the Australian Alex De Minaur (ATP 9).

If he will not yet play his first semi-final on the ATP circuit, Zizou Bergs will have to console himself next Monday, when he will reach the best ranking of his ATP career. The native of Lommel should climb to 65th place, although he only entered the top 100 last June.
