Obstacles to watch out for this weekend

A tough weekend awaits road users: in addition to the closure of the Ville-Marie highway to the east on a significant section, located between the Turcot interchange and the city center, another obstacle, that in the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge interchange on the South Shore, will also complicate travel for motorists.

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility indicated earlier this week that the closure of the Ville-Marie highway will be carried out over a distance of five kilometers between the Turcot interchange and the entrance to rue de la Cathédrale, Friday, 11:59 p.m., to Monday morning, 5 a.m.

This closure is explained by the “relocation of a major drain and repair work on the slab”, according to information published in a press release from the ministry.

The three ramps leading from the A-15 north, the A-20 east and the A-15 south (Décarie) to the R-136 east (downtown) as well as the entrance to Boulevard des Tanneries will also be closed.

Obstructions at the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge interchange

In order to carry out work on the overpass, closures are also planned on the South Shore on Route 132 and on Marie-Victorin Boulevard, from Friday 11 p.m. to Monday morning at 5 a.m. The ministry encourages motorists to take the A-10 from the A-30 or to use public transportation.

Lane closures on the Laviolette Bridge

If your plans take you towards Trois-Rivières, two out of four lanes of the Laviolette Bridge will be closed. Only one lane per direction will be available from Friday, 8 p.m., to Monday, 6:30 a.m. The replacement of the central slab of the bridge explains this closure. Motorists coming from Montreal and Quebec are invited to plan their trips if they wish to go from one side of the St. Lawrence River to the other.
