He was clearing his garden: victim of “intense headaches”, “he started vomiting yellow bile”… a father dies after being bitten by an infected mosquito

Richard, 49, died from complications after contracting the Eastern Equine Encephalomyelitis virus.

A Connecticut resident is deceased Monday, five years after being bitten by an infected mosquito while clearing brush in his garden. Richard Pawuski, 49, died from complications after contracting the Eastern Equine Encephalomyelitis virus. This mosquito-borne disease is a rare but serious disease that targets the braincausing rapid physical deterioration and lifelong disabilities.

Richard died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, a week after he was admitted to palliative care when doctors tragically felt there was little more that could be done for him, his daughter Amellia told the New York Post. The father finally succumbed to a staphylococcus aureus methicillin resistant.

Plunged into a coma after complications from the operation

The American suddenly fell ill after carrying out maintenance work in the wooded backyard of the family home in Colchester in August 2019. Just a day after discovering a new mosquito bite, Richard complained of severe headache et started vomiting yellow bile.

He was urgently hospitalized to relieve the swelling in his brain, but complications from the operation worsened the situation and plunged the forty-year-old into a coma.
