Towards a mutiny within the PLC: Liberal MPs demand Trudeau’s departure

MPs from the Liberal Party of Canada (PLC) are reportedly working discreetly to organize a revolt against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and demand his departure.

While Mr. Trudeau is on a mission in Laos, it is mainly MPs from the Maritimes who are behind this revolt in preparation, believes the journalist from National Post Christopher Nardi, guest on the show The Balance Sheet on the airwaves of LCN, Tuesday evening.

“Yes, there is something brewing, but it’s really special. We see that the people behind it do not want to come out of the shadows before they are ready to deliver this message, both publicly and to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,” indicated Mr. Nardi.

In a context of weakening of the liberal machine, will the rebels be able to rally other MPs in their movement to challenge Justin Trudeau’s leadership to make him leave while he is hanging on against all odds?

“Right now, there is no dolphin, no alternative. I have the impression that the founders are looking for a savior of some sort to work with to replace Mr. Trudeau,” analyzed Guillaume St-Pierre, head of the Ottawa parliamentary office of Journal.

“It’s like a chef trying to rebuild a plane in mid-flight when an engine is missing,” according to the colorful expression of Guillaume St-Pierre for whom the PLC gives the image of a formation in pieces after the electoral collapse during the last partial elections.

However, among those who could be tempted by a leadership race, the guests of the show The Balance Sheet exclude the hypothesis of seeing Chrystia Freeland take the plunge, she who, apart from the fact that she is not popular, seems interested in an international career.

As for the former governor of the Bank of Canada Mark Carney, rumors have been circulating for more than ten years about his desire to enter the race for leadership of the PLC, analyzed the journalist from National Post.
