Film and audiovisual production: government measures are likely to increase the value of foreign investments (Mr. Bensaid)

Rabat – The Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, indicated, Monday in Rabat, that the measures taken by the government are capable of increasing the value of foreign investments in the tourism sector. cinematographic and audiovisual production in Morocco.

In response to an oral question on “Strengthening the image of Morocco as a filming destination for international film productions” addressed by the Authenticity and Modernity Group to the House of Representatives, Mr. Bensaid explained that “the government has increased public support for international film productions with a view to attracting them, as they are considered “highly important foreign investments”, expressing its ambition to reach 1% of the total value of global investments, estimated to around 30 billion euros by 2025.

In this sense, he noted the increase in the volume of investments in foreign film productions, explaining that it reached one billion dirhams during the year 2023, compared to 500 million dirhams in 2021.

Mr. Bensaid affirmed that the ministry considers cinema as one of its priorities, “given the important role that this sector plays in job creation and strengthening the image of Morocco internationally” , stressing that this interest is also part of the ministry’s strategy to promote the cultural and creative industries (ICC).

And adding that the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) takes part in all international festivals and markets with the aim of attracting investors, affirming that “Morocco remains one of the privileged destinations for global cinematographic productions, thanks to its logistical and human potential”.
