Local sources and eyewitnesses reported that Israeli artillery fired on the Al-Mufti school, which houses dozens of displaced families in the Nuseirat camp in northern Gaza.
Ambulances and civil defense units quickly arrived on the scene, and rescuers trying to evacuate the injured had to work by the light of flashlights and cell phones due to the darkness caused by a power outage.
Paramedics said the rescue team recovered 19 bodies and around 80 injured people, including children and women, and transported them to hospitals in central Gaza.
