Senegalese invited to donate blood to save lives

The president of the National Association of Voluntary Blood Donors (ANDOBES), Ousmane Bèye, on Saturday in Dakar invited the Senegalese to donate their blood to the blood bank of the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS) to save lives .

”What is desirable is that every man, from the age of 18, is aware that every three months, he must go and donate blood, if he is in good health to the CNTS, whose daily average collection runs between 150 to 200 pockets,” said Mr. Béye.

He took part in the blood donation day organized by the Rotary clubs of Senegal, in collaboration with the leaders of the International Junior Chamber U Dakar Prestige, the International Junior Chamber Dakar Elite and Inner Wheel.

“This initiative aims to strengthen blood banks facing a recurring deficit,” he explained, calling on the population “not to wait for a call or an accident to go to the CNTS blood bank.”

”People need to be made aware. They need to mobilize to donate blood. This is what will save lives,’ he insisted.

The administrative assistant to the president of “Justice and Dignity for the Women in Sahel” (JDWS), Georgina Ngoma, indicated that the objective of this blood donation activity aims to mobilize people to raise awareness about the importance of saving lives.

”Hospitals are doing their best, but alone they cannot do everything. It is up to populations and citizens to mobilize to help the medical profession. We will normally continue this initiative, the objective of which is to organize at least three to four blood donation days during the year,” she further underlined.
