DECRYPTION – The government plans to eliminate 2,200 civil servant positions within the state civil service out of a total of… 2.4 million. National education, employment and the budget are asked to make an effort to benefit sovereign functions.
Michel Barnier had announced it: the government will cut down on state staff. In total, the finance bill (PLF) plans to reduce the ranks of the state civil service by 2,201 positions, including 1,196 within ministries and 1,005 on the operator side. Reported to a total workforce of 2.4 million in this scope.
Against all expectations, it is National Education which is subject to the strictest regime, with the elimination of 2,000 full-time equivalents (FTE). For the Minister of the Budget, Laurent Saint-Martin, it is the « drop in the number of students in France » which justifies this skimming. If 4,000 teaching jobs are expected to disappear, 2,000 should be created to support disabled students. On arrival, the minister assures that there will indeed be a « strengthening the number of lessons per student » since the demographic dynamics made it possible to eliminate up to 4,800 jobs…
